Well everyone I'm finally back from my twelve day spring break. It was a long road but it was amazing. Since I did so much traveling (seven countries to be exact) I figured the easiest way for you to understand and get a glimpse of my adventures was to do a blog per city. So to begin let's start from Vienna, our first stop.
When we first arrived in Vienna we went straight to our hostel. The name of it was Happy Hostel and let me tell you, it truly did make me happy. This is one of the pictures of the inside of our room, but it had five beds, a private bathroom, a TV (which we didn't watch because we probably wouldn't have been able to understand it anyway), a nice little kitchen with utensils, and then a cute little dinning room area and table.
The first day we were there it was amazing outside. This is a picture of Katie and I in front of a fountain in the middle of a square of museums and the Habsburgs Winter Palace. Other than a couple catholic churches we didn't really tour any buildings the first day, but rather walked around and explored Vienna. Here are a couple more pictures of the gorgeous weather and beautiful buildings in Vienna.
Also while on our Vienna walking tour I spotted this sign. See they even have Kearney in Vienna!
For our lunch break Katie, Lisa, Hayley, Abby and I went to a cute little cafe on one of the side streets. Before we left Katie and I went to go use the restroom and we walked into this. This is literally the view from the bathroom door. The stalls had glass doors. We both looked at each other, looked at the stalls, and looked at each other again and decided we would wait for the next place.
The first night the majority of us met up at the Traveler's Lodge (a bar that a lot of tourists/college students go to). Their special for the night was 20 shots for 10 Euros. As you can see from the picture below the shots got very interesting.
All in all it was a very fun time. We got to all hang out and chill and we even met some other girls studying abroad originally from South Dakota and Oregon.
Day two in Vienna we weren't quite as lucky with the weather as it decided to be rainy, cold, and very windy. That didn't stop us however as we traveled across town to the Habsburg's summer palace. I don't have any pictures of it because no cameras were allowed but no words can describe how extravagant and luxurious the palace was. We were able to use auto-guided headset as we walked through the palace and that was great. I'm not usually a "museum-type" person but it was very interesting. The palace was huge and we even went through the room Mozart would often preform for the Habsburgs in when he was just six years old.
After that we all dispersed for lunch and Katie, Abby, Tim and I all went with Dr. Clark and Jan to eat at another cute restaurant in the old time market I believe it was called. It was great to have Dr. Clark and Jan to ourselves for awhile and really get to know them a little bit better.
After lunch we split up into groups and Jed, Evan, Katie and I all went and toured the Crown Jewels Museum.
Here are just a few of the amazing jeweled pieces we witnessed. There were crowns, cradles, jewelry boxes, decorations, and much much more. It was very worth the walk in the freezing rain to get there.
On our last night in Vienna we all decided to take good showers and go around the corner to a little restaurant we stumbled upon the night before with a little old woman named Inge. Inge (pronounced Inga) is the co-owner of the restaurant, he husband being the other owner. She is originally from Austria and her husband (Gary) is from San Francisco, California. As we sat and ate the wonderful goulash she made us, she told us her and Gary's love story. It was the kind of love story that made you tear up. I can definitely say we all fell in love with Inge that night, and if I ever get back to Europe I will most definitely be going to see her again.

(The dollar bill we all signed and left on Inge's wall so she wouldn't forget us.)
Early the next morning we packed up and headed to Venice.....
